Katie Jackson / Para-Dressage

After losing her leg to cancer in 2015, Katie Jackson is now an international para-equestrian dressage competitor.  Digging deep, Katie found what brought her the most joy in life; horses. She has used this passion to triumph in the face of overwhelming adversity.  Katie was named as first alternate for the 2018 Tryon World Equestrian Games US Para-Equestrian Team and has represented Team USA in numerous Nation’s Cup competitions.  She is the USDF Grade V National Champion and a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist.

When not traveling for her training and competition, Katie resides in Austin, Texas with her husband and their two Labrador retrievers.  Katie’s career as general dentist was cut short by her cancer, yet she continues to own and manage her practice.  She is active in her amputee community as an ambassador for Ottobock, the company that makes her prosthetic leg and is co-founder of the Austin Sarcoma Support Community, a resource for others diagnosed her rare form of cancer.
