At Brooke USA, our goal is to serve as good stewards of the resources entrusted to us. We have a responsibility to maintain integrity and openness in our financial practices. Therefore, we are committed to fulfilling the following standards:
We are governed by a responsible Board of Directors. Our Board establishes policies, sets budgets, oversees operations and reviews organizational accomplishments.
Our financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
We obtain an annual audit in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards by an independent public accounting firm, Turner & Associates, LLP.
Contributions to Brooke USA are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
We take great pride in our financial efficiency, our transparency, and our accountability to our donors. At Brooke USA we manage our donation revenue to fund programs that help relieve the suffering of working animals in poor communities around the world, and we spend our funds wisely to further build awareness for the plight of working equines worldwide. With that said, we are not about to be conservative about our goals. Each spending decision is made with two things in mind:
The greater wellbeing of people and working equines.
The biggest possible return.
Sometimes seeking big returns means making a calculated risk. We are OK with that as we know that we have done our due diligence to ensure it is a viable option.
Brooke USA is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that receives no government funding. Our work is made possible entirely through donations from people like you who care about working equines in the developing work. Our tax identification number (EIN) is 33-1173163.

Every year, Brooke USA’s Board of Directors allocates a fixed percentage of every restricted donation to support its administrative and fundraising costs. In 2021, 76% of funds raised are allocated to programs, while only 24% is used toward support services. If restricted donations exceed a campaign need, Brooke USA’s Board of Directors may allocate these funds to other worthy projects that help Brooke USA fulfill its mission of significantly improving the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people they serve in vulnerable communities globally by raising funds and responsibly directing them to the areas of greatest need.
