We Can No Longer Stay Silent - We Are Addressing Amazon

Over the last year Brooke USA Foundation has called on our supporters to help when working horses, donkeys and mules, as well as the vulnerable communities they support needed our help. You have been there to make a difference, and we are truly grateful. However, we need you more than ever right now.

Our name change, volunteers of the year, upcoming events and more bundled into this summer newsletter of good news!

In 1930, wealthy Scottish socialite Dorothy Brooke followed her new husband to Cairo, where she discovered thousands of suffering former British war horses leading lives of toil and misery. Brought to the Middle East by British forces during the Great War, these ex-cavalry horses had been left behind at the war's end, abandoned as used equipment too costly to send home. We celebrate her life today, and the entire month of June, as we acknowledge the tireless work and passion she had to rescue these noble creatures. Today we continue her legacy by raising funds to help working horses, donkeys and mules and the people who depend on them to survive in vulnerable communities all over the world.

Introducing our summer campaign, The Donkey Load! The air is thick with choking dust. The summer heat--well over 100 degrees--is searing. In the miserable conditions of India’s brick kilns, working horses, donkeys and mules are pushed to their physical limits day after day, hauling massive loads on their backs from dawn until dusk. This punishing existence is the everyday reality for thousands of working animals throughout the developing world. Help us help them with our Summer Campaign and learn about our winter season, fundraisers and upcoming events!
